During the first nine months of 2022, the value of disclosed M&A transactions with any Sub-Saharan African involvement totaled US$39.6 billion, which is 50% less than the amount registered during the same period in 2021.

Despite the reduction in deal value, the region’s deal announcements increased by 6% from the previous year, making this the region's highest first nine-month total since 2017.
